On my first day at university I helped other freshers get onto the university computer system. For 20-plus years in IT I got used to helping users with their computer problems. In my current life as a creator of book indexes, the habit is hard to break. I am currently on more than a dozen indexing and computer email discussion lists. Some of the help I have given has been for very specific situations but some things I say sometimes many times. Have you tried turning it off and on?
